We are seeking a dedicated Medical Billing and Revenue Cycle Specialist to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of our organization. This individual will manage the full spectrum of medical billing and revenue cycle processes, collaborating with our clinical and administrative teams to optimize patient access to care and maintain compliance with industry standards.

Position Overview

The Medical Billing and Revenue Cycle Specialist will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of medical billing, insurance claims processing, accounts receivable management, and revenue cycle optimization. This role requires attention to detail, familiarity with medical billing practices, and a commitment to ensuring patients have a seamless financial experience while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key ResponsibilitiesBilling and Claims Management

• Accurately process patient claims, ensuring proper coding and documentation in alignment with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS standards.
• Submit claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly.
• Resolve billing discrepancies or errors in collaboration with clinical staff and insurance providers.
• Prepare and submit patient statements, ensuring clarity and accuracy of charges.

Revenue Cycle Optimization

• Monitor the entire revenue cycle, from patient registration to final payment, to identify and address bottlenecks.
• Analyze and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as days in accounts receivable, collection rates, and denial trends.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop strategies for improving billing efficiency and maximizing revenue.

Patient Financial Support

• Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries, insurance coverage, and payment options in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Educate patients on their financial responsibilities and assist with resolving outstanding balances.

Compliance and Documentation

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of billing regulations, payer requirements, and industry standards to ensure compliance.
• Document all billing activities in CIP’s electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management systems.
• Conduct regular audits of billing and coding practices to maintain accuracy and compliance.

Collaboration and Team Support

• Work closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure seamless integration of billing processes with patient care.
• Provide training and guidance on billing practices to team members as needed.
• Serve as the primary liaison between CIP and insurance companies for billing-related matters.

QualificationsEducation and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, or a related field.
• Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or CMC) is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and practice management software.
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding standards, as well as payer policies and reimbursement methodologies.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and other relevant regulations.
